WordPress Accessibility Day is a nonprofit event organized and run entirely by volunteers who share a common goal: to advocate for and create an accessible internet. And we need you to join us!
Day-of Positions
WP Accessibility Day 2025 will run 24 hours from October 15th to October 16th, beginning at 9:45 AM Central/3:00 PM Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). We need help before, during, and after the event.
There are several different ways to join in, and you don’t need any experience volunteering for or organizing an event. There are jobs available for people of all skill levels and abilities and people with technical and non-technical backgrounds.
Emcees
You’ll introduce speakers in a pre-recorded introduction, then be on-camera live to communicate with the speaker to ask questions posted in the Q&A section, and announce other event business.
Emcees must be fluent in English with an accent that is easily understood by a global audience.
Session Moderators
You’ll enforce our Code of Conduct in the chat and remind attendees to use the Q&A section for all questions. This role ensures our sessions run smoothly and are welcoming and inclusive.
Lobby Moderators/Volunteer Point-of-Contact
Ensure all volunteers check in on Slack 15 minutes before their shift begins. Between check-ins with volunteers, monitor the Lobby Chat for Code of Conduct issues or technical questions.
Post-event positions
Post-event Video Reviewer
Review final session videos after they come back from vendors to ensure the final edits are accurate, captions are correct and free of typos, and that ASL and captions are properly synced to the presentation. Reviewers should have good English proficiency.
Post-event Translations
This is a combination volunteer and paid role.
We are looking for individuals who are fluent in English (our primary event language) and another language. We currently pay for Spanish (South/Latin American) and French (European) translations. However, if you are fluent in another language and interested in volunteering, we would love to have translations into other languages as well!
We will provide the original English transcript and an automatically-generated translation of each 50-minute session. We ask volunteers to review the generated translations and make any edits, as needed, for clarity, readability, and accuracy in the new language.
