About Makarand Mane
Makarand G. Mane has been building with WordPress since 2011. Starting as a freelance developer, he now leads WPGenius Solutions LLP, a WordPress agency specializing in development, performance optimization, and support.
A passionate contributor to the WordPress project, Makarand is the General Translation Editor for Marathi, where he led the first complete Marathi translation of WordPress. He is also a Core Contributor to WordPress, contributing across Core, Polyglots, Community, Photos, Patterns, and WP-CLI. A speaker at multiple WordCamps, he is the organizer of the Kolhapur WordPress Meetup and has served as Lead Organizer of WordCamp Kolhapur 2025 & 2026 and Co-lead for Contributor Day at WordCamp Asia 2026.
Through the WordPress Education initiative, Makarand mentors students in the WP Credits program, leads WordPress Campus Connect events, and has organized an online WordPress Contribution Series to help newcomers make their first contributions to WordPress. He is an All-Star Mentee of the WordPress Contributor Mentorship Program (2024 Q4 Cohort Graduate) and received a Diversity Scholarship to attend WordCamp Asia 2025.
Beyond WordPress, Makarand enjoys traveling, exploring cultures, and spiritual practices. He is passionate about empowering the next generation of WordPress contributors through education, mentorship, and community building.
